Project Background

Fronting one of Arlington’s major highways, the ART & Ops Maintenance Facility demonstrates how thoughtful design can elevate essential public infrastructure. Parasoleil contributed a coordinated package of branded (ARLINGTON TRANSIT) and patterned architectural aluminum panel elements, engineered for long-term performance and crafted with sustainable materials.

The building’s COR11™ patina powder coat signage anchors the façade, while Quiet Wood© patterned rooftop screen railing — also finished in COR11™ — frames the rooftop employee patio with a warm, modern aesthetic. Across the main elevations, façade panels in Quiet Wood© finished in our Industry™ patina bring character and continuity to the building envelope. A custom panel array for ARLINGTON TRANSIT creates a bold visual statement for passersby.

Collaboration with the glazing contractor integrated Quiet Wood© into custom glazing effects at entry points and stairwells exposed to direct sunlight, creating a cohesive visual language across metal and glass.

Designed to consolidate Arlington Transit’s maintenance, administration, operations, and electric bus charging functions, the facility reflects a forward-looking, community-centered approach to public service.

In 2025, the ART & Ops Maintenance Facility achieved LEED Platinum for Communities, the highest sustainability rating for a public service site. Parasoleil’s aluminum panels support this vision with recyclable, VOC-free, locally manufactured materials engineered for durability — rust-free, structurally tested, and installed with corrosion-resistant best practices to maximize lifecycle performance.

A remarkable collaboration with Stantec, Miller Clapperton, Galaxy Glass, and Arlington County. Special thanks to the Facility Project Manager for the generous tour and warm hospitality.
